Self-Development Books We Love

One of Neora’s Core Values is “Pursue Constant Development of Self,” because we believe no matter how accomplished, fulfilled and successful we are, there’s always room for improvement and growth. Inspired by National Book Lovers Day, we asked Neora executives to share their favorite personal development books that have made a difference in their lives.

Of course, we’re incredibly proud that Neora’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Olson, is the author of The Slight Edge, a best-seller that helps people worldwide find success and happiness. And speaking of happiness, we also have to brag on our own Deborah K. Heisz, Neora Co-Chief Executive Officer, and her book, Live Happy: Ten Practices for Choosing Joy. Here are more great recommendations:

Power vs Force

by David R. Hawkins, M.D., Ph.D.

“This book speaks to the incredible powerforce we all are tapped into, but few understand. It’s 394 pages, so using The Slight Edge philosophy of ten pages a day, you can learn in 39 days what it took Dr. David R. Hawkins a lifetime to learn!”

The Road to Character

by David Brooks

“I could not put this book down! The topic of character is all about how you conduct yourself, even when no one is watching. It can take a lifetime to cultivate, but just a moment to demonstrate when you need it the most. This is a must-read in my opinion!”

-Deborah K. Heisz
Neora Co-Chief Executive Officer

Dare to Lead

by Brené Brown

“This book by Brené Brown has challenged me and helped me grow in ways I was not expecting. If you are looking to learn how you can more fully step into your role as a leader at work, I highly recommend this book.”

-Amber Olson Rourke
Neora Co-Founder & Chief Sales and Marketing Officer

The Slight Edge

by Jeff Olson

and

“The two books that have had the most influence on my life are The Slight Edge, which has improved my life in everyday living, and Draw the Circle, which has made such a difference in my spiritual life! I have given away so many copies of both!”

-Renee Olson
Neora Co-Founder & Chief Leadership Officer

Bo Short recommends the latest from Andy Andrews, Neora’s 2018 Get Real Keynote Speaker, and Bo shares his own philosophy on the importance of reading great books, “Sales give financial depth to an organization. Books give depth to the leaders of an organization.”

Thank you so much for sharing the books that inspired you all! It is thanks to Neora that I got back to reading! I always said I loved reading but I did it very little. After joining Neora I strated reading 10 pages a day, now 10 pages is rarely enough. And I’m so grateful for all the books I have read through this program. Rigt now I’m reading 4 at the same time, which is weird to me!, Dare To Lead by Brené Brown is one, “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks, “The 24 irrefutable laws of leadership” by John Maxwell, and, OMG!, loving loving loving : “Dodging Energy Vampires” by Christiane Northrup.
